Oh my gosh… I want one!
Ok, full disclosure here - I tend to want gadgets and stuff badly but I don’t think I’ve wanted anything like this in a long time.
I was over at Healthbolt, reading about the Wii Fit and then I followed the links to the reviews. As some of you may remember, if you’ve been reading since January, I bought a Wii game system in January because I wanted to take advantage of the sports games and begin moving about a little more. I believed - and I still do - that something like this can be fabulous for some people with chronic pain. I found that the tennis, especially, did help me want to get up out of my chair throughout my work day and it was fun. My husband and I play it fairly regularly. He goes to the gym several times a week and a good wicked game of tennis can get a bit of a sheen on his brow nonetheless.
I think something like this is also good for people who are living with pain because they can play slowly and easy levels, building up to what they can do while in the privacy of their own home. They don’t have to feel embarrassed if they can only do one repetition of an exercise or one yoga position. Living with chronic pain can be frustrating enough, it’s nice to find something that migh help bring fun into the house and help promote movement, flexibility, and exercise.
So, now that I see the Wii Fit, I just want it. In all honestly, though, it will likely be a while before I can get my hands on one because of 1) the availability and 2) well, let’s just say that games aren’t at the top of our list financially right now. But, I will get one - mark my words.
