Help My Hurt

Living with chronic pain using guided imagery - and a free audio download

by Marijke Durning, RN on April 22nd, 2008

Are you looking for another way to help manage your pain? Or perhaps you would like a way to learn how to relax more so that your pain isn’t as intense? Guided imagery, using the mind-body connection, has helped millions of people with various illnesses and disorders live with pain.

Guided imagery is used in situations ranging from children receiving cancer treatments to helping assault victims begin rebuilding their self-esteem. I used a form of guided imagery several years ago when I was learning how to deal with some stressful situations and issues that were contributing to my anxiety. I wasn’t sure how confident I was in it, but it did seem to help.

In this interview, Using Guided Imagery to Help Relieve Chronic Pain — An Interview with Dr. Marty Rossman, Martin L. Rossman, MD, director and founder of the Collaborative Medicine Center in Greenbrae, CA and co-director of the Academy for Guided Imagery in Malibu, CA, discusses how guided imagery works and how to find someone who is qualified to help you with the therapy.

He also offers a stress-buster audio download.
