Wii aerobics proving a success
Ok, I’ve read so much about the new Wii Fit program that I’m having a fit because I want one. I have a Wii game system and enjoy the sports games, especially the tennis, and this is next on my list if I can ever find one (Oh my gosh… I want one!).
What’s so great about it? The idea of being able to exercise well at home at your convenience, but with good feedback that you wouldn’t normally get from a TV program or DVD.
People with chronic pain should try and exercise (Physical activity may help reduce arthritis pain) but getting out is often more than someone can handle when they’re not feeling that well. Now, luckily for Nintendo, it seems that Wii is hitting that market, as well as several others, with the Wii Fit. This article, O.K., Avatar, Work With Me, in the NY Times,
According to the article, “Wii Fit’s almost 50 exercises are divided among four categories: strength training, aerobics, balance games and yoga. Each user creates a personal profile, including a potential weight loss (or gain) goal.”
Because beginners have been known to overdo exercises when something is new, “to prevent novices from overextending or frustrating themselves, only a few exercises are initially available in each category; more advanced activities are unlocked only after completing simpler options.”

I’m DYING for a Wii system. I want one so bad I can hardly stand it. :) I tried to talk my husband into “buying one for the kids” last Christmas, but he just raised an eyebrow at me. Was I that transparent?? LOL! Anyway, yeah, they’re really cool, and I think it’s great that somebody is finally coming out with electronic gaming systems that don’t require kids (or–AHEM–adults) to sit on their fannies for hours while playing.
