Interstitial cystitis may be connected to autoimmune disorders

According to a study published in April’s Nature Clinical Practice Urology, a researcher has found a connection between interstitial cystitis and and allergy, irritable bowel syndrome -IBS, (Women with IBS unable to switch off pain response), fibromyalgia (Fibromyalgia)and inflammatory bowel disease -IBD, (Older people with IBD may develop more frequent infections). There is also a connection between IC and generalized autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus - SLE, (Lupus), rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjogren’s syndrome (Sjögren’s syndrome).

Interstitial cystitis is a painful bladder condition that causes affects more women then men. It is also called painful bladder condition, because of the sudden, painful and urgent need to urinate.
