by Marijke Durning, RN on June 16th, 2008

028605A000059-01 If you are ill and depend on medicinal marijuana to be able to function, because of nausea, chronic pain, no appetite, or overwhelming fatigue, and you live in the state of New York - there may be some good news for you.

According to this article, N.Y. poised to OK marijuana for medicinal use, there’s hope that law can be passed for medicinal pot before legislature closes for the summer holidays.

2 opinions for NY state may be moving forward with medicinal marijuana law

I live in California. As you are aware, the “Marijuana Law” was passed here a number of years ago, I actually had a Dr. at that time write me a prescription for some so I wouldn’t “sited” for buying it. Shortly after that, the Federal Gov’t said it was “illegal.” So, if in fact it is legal, how does one go about finding someone that will sell it to them. It’s easy for the High School kids to get it, but I’m 61, a chronic pain patient for 15 yrs now…I’m real tired of it. So, I’m just curious. If New York gets this law passed that I’m sure so many worked so hard to get….what is saying that the Fed’l Gov’t won’t step in and say “no no?”

I live in a rural community and have NO idea where to make any sort of purchase. Also, I no longer have a Dr. that will write me an rx for it, he retired. I do know my Dr. well enough now and he wouldn’t even want to have the conversation. All the Dr.s in our area are owned by the hospital. (At least 95% of them). The hospital makes the rules and the Dr.s follow them, takes a lot of the guesswork out of it for the Dr.s.
Thanks ahead of time for any info you can give me.
    Please don’t post my name.
