Military personnel like a soldier who was flung in the air when a grenade went off near him, can sustain head injuries even if they don’t lose consciousness. Unfortunately, many of these injuries go unnoticed and unreported.

Olympic athlete injury update - Aug. 10

French Open tennis champion and top ranked Olympic seed Ana Ivanovic has pulled out of the Beijing Olympics because of a thumb injury she sustained after Wimbledon.
Canadian tennis player Frederic Niemeyer withdrew from his singles competition, complaining of a sore right elbow. Hopefully he will be well enough to participate in the doubles competition.

More injuries dash Olympic athletes’ dreams

Sadly, more athletes are sustaining injuries, taking away their hopes of an Olympic appearance, let alone a chance of a medal.
Some of the latest to be struck down are:
Swedish woman soccer player, Hanna Ljungberg will be replaced because of a hamstring injury. She first injured it almost three weeks ago.

Canadian gymnast’s ligament injury healed

Canadian gymnast Brandon O’Neill has been given the go-ahead to compete despite injuring a ligament in his ankle this past Monday. Hopefully, his ankle won’t be too painful. The concern is that the ligament could sustain more damage, causing more pain.
